The Importance of Hifz al-Qur’an

Hifz al-Qur’an, the memorisation of the Qur’an, is one of the most noble acts of worship. It helps preserve the words of Allah in the hearts of believers and strengthens their connection with the Qur’an throughout their lives.

Key Benefits of Memorising the Qur’an

1. A Great Virtue and Honour
Allah says:
“Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an, and indeed, We will be its guardian.”
— Surah Al-Hijr, 15:9

2. A Source of Reward
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“The one who is proficient in the Qur’an will be with the noble and obedient scribes (angels).”
— Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 4937; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 798

3. Honour in the Hereafter
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“It will be said to the companion of the Qur’an: Recite and ascend, for your rank will be at the last verse you recite.”
— Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith 1464; Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi, Hadith 2914

4. A Lifelong Connection with the Qur’an
Memorising the Qur’an allows a Muslim to carry the words of Allah in their heart and recite them in Salah and throughout daily life.
Hifz al-Qur’an is therefore not merely an act of memorisation; it is a journey of faith, discipline, worship, and preparation for the Hereafter.
